Online Registration Process

As we know, a driving license is a document given by the Department of Transportation to the driver. In other words, it is the permission given to the driver to run the Vehicles like motorbikes, scooters, cars, buses, etc on the public road. Without a driving license, no one can get permission to drive a vehicle on the public road. 

So you have to pass the driving license exam to get a new license from the Department of Transportation Government of Nepal. So first you have to fill up the form for the further process to get a  license.  

With modern technology, the system of filling out the form for a driving license has been changed. Compared to the past, people have to go to the Transportation Office just to fill out the form. They used to wait for hours and hours in line to submit the driving license form.

 But with new technology, the system of filling out the form for a driving license is quite easier than in the past. The public can fill out the form and submit it online.

1. Fill up the form online

This is the first step to getting a new driving license in Nepal. You can fill-up the form for a license online. First, you have to open this site https://dotm.gov.np/. After that, you will get the verification page. And you have to fill up the form and attach the documents as per the rules.  

Finally, you have to save the confirmation page and print it. 

2. Documents to fill the form

To fill-up the form you need to attach the following documents

• Citizenship
• Blood Group Card

After getting the confirmation page you have to visit the Department of  Transportation Government of Nepal to do the further procedure. 

3. Total Cost

If you are filling the form online yourself then no need to pay any amount there. But if you are filling the form with the next person then he/she will charge a certain amount of money just to fill the form.  

After completing the procedure of filling out the form you have to visit the Department of  Transportation Government of Nepal to pay

•  Rs. 500 for the written exam. 
• After passing the written exam you have to pay another Rs.500 for the trial exam.
•  Therefore the total cost for the procedure is Rs. 1000. 
• Once you pass the written and trial exam, you have to visit the DOTM office to pay the license tax. 
• It cost Rs.1500 for a bike/ scooter license. 

4. Written Exam

After completing the payment and document submission, you have to pass the written exam. It is also held by the transportation office. To pass the written exam is not harder than a trial. Just you have to know the traffic rules and other driving-related questions and answers. 

5. How to check written exam result

You can check your written exam through the online process

• You can check your result through the Facebook page of the DOTM
• You have to forward message/ SMS  LC<space>Applicant ID to 31003

Through the above process, you can check your written exam result. 

6. Driving Skill Test (Trial)

After passing the written exam, you have to visit the DOTM office to pay the charge for the trial. It is quite harder than a written exam. Out of 100% of students, 60% of them failed this test. 

So you have to practice more to pass the trial exam. And to get the new license.
