As we all Nepalese people have a word lingering in our mouth to define whenever we have any stomach
abnormality and it is called ‘Gastric’. This term is the word for stomach in Latin and we have been using
it without knowing its true meaning. ‘Gastric’ is the mangled version of ‘Gastritis’ which medically means
the inflammation of the inner lining of the gut due to excess acid and enzyme pepsin secretions.
Gas can lead to stomach cramps, bloating, and heaviness. High-carb foods and sugary juices can lead to
flatulence. Mild gas problems can be solved by some of the simple kitchen ingredients found in our
kitchen. You can use it while you have any gas problems which can make you feel better in no time.

  • Ajwain or Jwano Seeds:
  • Cumin or Jeera:
  • Asafoetida or Heeng:
  • Ginger:
  • Lime juice with baking powder:
gas troubles

Ajwain or Jwano Seeds:

Jwano seeds contain a compound named thymol which secretes gastric juices that help
indigestion. Ajwain water is often recommended to patients with gas and bloating. This is so because
this drink is known to enhance digestion and reduce symptoms of gastric issues. Take about half a teaspoon of jwano seeds with water once a day to feel better.

Cumin or Jeera:

Jeera contains essential oils that stimulate the salivary glands which help in the digestion of foods
and prevent the formation of excess gas. The powerful anti-gas chemicals in jeera water shield the system from irritable bowel syndrome and treat bloating, acidity, flatulence, belching, and burps
instantly. Take a tablespoon of cumin seeds and boil them in two cups of water for 10-15 minutes. Let it
cool and drink the water after having your meal for better gas reduction.

Asafoerida or Heeng:

Heeng has anti-flatulent that prevents the growth of the gut bacteria that may be producing
excess gas in your stomach. In addition to adding a distinct flavor to dishes, asafoetida has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to aid digestion and gas, as well as treat bronchitis and kidney stones.
Mix half a teaspoon with lukewarm water and drink it or you can add it to your dishes.

Ginger:

Fresh ginger acts as a natural carminative which is an agent that relieves flatulence. Although it
does not completely cure flatulence, drinking ginger water once a day can help prevent gas problems and acidity as it helps to stimulate one’s digestive juices, thereby aiding the digestion process. Add 1
a teaspoon of fresh ginger and have it with 1 teaspoon of lime juice after your meals.

Lime juice with baking powder:

It helps in forming carbon dioxide which facilitates the digestion process. Lemon juice helps to
loosen the toxins floating around in our GI tract, relieve the painful symptoms that accompany
indigestion, and even reduce the risk of burping and bloating resulting from excess gas production in the

gut. Stir 1 teaspoon of lime juice and half a teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of tea and drink it after a
meal.
These are some of the home remedies for any gas problems but I recommend if it is too severe then
contact your doctor as they are the ones who can look at your case and recommend some medications
that will solve your gas problems. Try to follow healthy lifestyles which will reduce gas problems. Only
use this if you have short term problem if it is having for a long time then better consult your doctors.
